Regular Yoga Classes:

The Yoga Club at Don Bosco College has been conducting regular yoga classes to promote physical, mental, and emotional well-being among students and staff. These classes typically include a combination of asanas (postures), pranayama (breathing exercises), and meditation techniques. One of the key highlights of these classes has been the emphasis on Surya Namaskar, also known as Sun Salutation.

Surya Namaskar: Surya Namaskar is a series of twelve yoga poses performed in a sequence, synchronized with the breath. Each posture in Surya Namaskar offers unique benefits, including stretching, strengthening, and energizing the body. The practice of Surya Namaskar is believed to enhance flexibility, improve circulation, boost metabolism, and promote overall well-being. By incorporating Surya Namaskar into their regular yoga classes, the Yoga Club aims to introduce students and staff to this powerful practice and its numerous health benefits.

Other Important Asanas: In addition to Surya Namaskar, the Yoga Club also focuses on teaching other important asanas that cater to the diverse needs and abilities of participants. These include standing poses, seated poses, forward bends, backbends, twists, and inversions. Each asana is carefully selected to target specific muscle groups, improve flexibility, balance, and coordination, and alleviate common health issues such as stress, anxiety, and fatigue.

World Autism Day Event:

In addition to regular yoga classes, the Yoga Club at Don Bosco organized a special event to mark World Autism Day, observed annually on April 2nd. World Autism Day is dedicated to raising awareness about autism spectrum disorders (ASD) and promoting acceptance, inclusion, and understanding of individuals with autism.

The event organized by the Yoga Club aimed to create a supportive and inclusive space where individuals with autism, their families, and the wider community could come together to celebrate diversity and promote well-being.

The celebration began with words of welcome by proposed by Sir. Francis Hasdak the assistant co-ordinator of the club. Speaking on the occasion Ms. Decem Santini Mitkong highlighted the notions about Autism. She said there are still misconceptions and misunderstandings and negative perceptions about Autism. Stigmas surrounding autism can be removed through proper awareness created among the students and also at the grassroots level and by making the education system more inclusive. There was a photo exhibition after the program.  It concluded with vote of thanks proposed by Ms. Gichik Anjali a member of yoga club.
